Author & Editor of Reputation Report
Born in Papua New Guinea and migrating to Australia in her early teens, Alex Harris has had a career in the media and public relations industries that took her from Australia to the United States and back. While in the United States, Alex served on the board of the Australian American Chamber of Commerce (1993-1997), was a member of the Chicago Board of Roosevelt University and a member of the American Society of Magazine Editors, was winner of the Chicago Women in Publishing award in 1994 and the National Association of Women Business Owners New Venture Award in 1995. Alex holds an Australian Innovation Patent for an online business process (awarded 2000), is a contributor to the Management Press book, She Said What, and co-founder of Koala Diaries, recipient of the 2010 GIS in Community Award.
After returning to Australia in 1999 and working for several years as an independent pitch consultant, in 2007, Alex was seconded to be general manager of Reputation Australia, a Sydney public relations firm specialising in crisis management. It was here her ideas on the challenges and benefits for organisations to strategically develop and defend their reputations were crystallised, and the blog, Reputation Report was born.
Alex is passionate about the issues of corporate social responsibility, business ethics, sustainable capitalism, reputation strategy, reputational risk, and leadership, and the links between them. Since 1994 Alex has spoken at conferences in the United States and Australia, including the Australian Institute of Management (AIM) International Leadership Conference in 2001, multiple IIR conferences, AIM International Women’s Day 2004, and the CEDA Copland Leadership Program 2009.
Today Alex is an author, public image risk consultant, speaker and editor of the Blog, Reputation Report. Alex is an Associate Fellow of the Australian Institute of Management, a member of the Queensland Writers Association, and a Trustee of Committee for Economic Development of Australia (CEDA).
